Stoked to receive this playlist from rising Athens star Oliver Domingo (aka Organically Programmed). At just 18 years old, Domingo is the leader of the Organically Programmed Orchestra (featuring John Kiran Fernandes, Vernon Thornsberry, Sophia Rubin, and Max Schneider, among others), a fantastic nine-piece space disco ensemble who recently shared a bill with Tredici Bacci and Klark Sound at Ciné. He is also a member of Primordial Void recording project Chairs (featuring Marcel Sletten, Reed Winckler, Sam Miller, and Jackson McLendon) and Oceanic Sound Research (featuring Fernandes and Kyle MacKinnel).
As an expert of all things library music and space age pop, Domingo made sure to include plenty of gems in his Cosmic Trattoria playlist: classic deep cuts from composers such as George Hermann, Frank McDonlad & Chris Rae, and Stelvio Cipriani; pop oddballs Gary Wilson and Nick Nicely; and established legends Kraftwerk, Todd Rundgren, Suicide, and Can. Find the entire thing below, and catch Chairs’ upcoming gig on April 19 at Flicker Theatre & Bar, opening for Kevin Coleman and the Rishis.
Here are some recordings and compositions that inspire me and my own compositions. Ranging from library music, to electronic, to jazz, to disco. These colorful and eccentric pieces will be sure to bring joy and laughter to you and your families alike. — Oliver Domingo
